LOOKS FAMILIAR?

A familiar face to us all can be seen in this week's copy of the children's comic, The Beano. (Issue No. 3308, on sale 7th December 2005, priced 80p). For the past six weeks, the comic has featured a revival of one of its characters from the 1960's, the crime-fighter "Billy the Cat". Drawn by artist Nigel Dobbyn, it is obviously written by someone with a knowledge of classic ITC shows, with names such as
"Jason Wyngarde" and "Stuart Sullivan" being used (for a footballer and football manager respectively).

Most interesting though was the inclusion of a character called "Drake", bearing a striking resemblance to Patrick McGoohan during his "Danger Man" period. Sadly, the similarities ended there, because The Beano's "Drake" has none of the morality of his tv counterpart - in this comic he's the villain!
