PORTMEIRION BOOKED
A compact survey of North-West Wales history divided into neat chapters covering legends, slate and shipbuilding, lakes, crafts, and Portmeirion, which has a chapter of its own, has been published.
Available in Portmeirion and elsewhere, "Welcome to Porthmadog-Ffestiniog" by Owain Maredudd, with photos by Elwyn Gruffudd, is a small guide of 34 tightly-packed pages (no white space) including a useful Welsh-English glossary (numbers, time, useful phrases, etc).
The author is clearly a knowledgable local historian, and with so much information crammed into the book, a reader can be something of a local expert themselves in the matter of a pleasant hour.
