SIX IN SIX DISC DIGIPACK
Granada
Ventures is the name of the integrated licensing and consumer products distribution
company for ITV. Following the merger of Granada and Carlton, Granada Ventures
will be responsible for the release of DVD and video from the ITC back catalogue
of shows. On October 4th 2004, Granada Ventures re-released The Prisoner in
the UK as a six disc DVD Digi Pack. (A Digi Pack is a DVD box set design where
the discs are presented in a fold out display, like the recent Danger Man
and Saint collections, instead of in seperate cases. ) As in the previous
DVD box set released a few years ago by Carlton, the new Digi Pack will include
all 17 episodes of the series spread across five discs. The sixth disc will
be "The Prisoner 35th Anniversary Companion" DVD which was previously
only available seperately. There's no news so far as to whether the UK discs
will receive the re-mastering to bring them up to the quality of the Australian
versions (released by Umbrella). Cost
of the new digipack will be a rrp £59.99, and is available only from
HMV stores.
