PRISONER SPOOF BACK IN PRINT
March
2005 will see Los Angeles based publishers Active Images release "Brickman
Begins!"- a 148 page softback collection of Lew Stringer's Batman parody
"Brickman" strips which ran on and off from 1979 to 1996.
Of particular interest to Unmutual readers is the inclusion of a spoof on
"The Prisoner", which originally appeared as a six part Combat Colin
strip in "Transformers" comic back in 1990. The six page story involves
Combat Colin being gassed and waking up in a familiar village, with escape
impossible due to someone having stolen his trousers!
Those
interested in comics will be pleased to hear the book also features guest
pages by comic art luminaries Dave Gibbons, Kevin O'Neill, Alan Davis, Mike
Higgs, Richard Elson, Charlie Adlard, Dave Windett, Ian Churchill, Mike Collins,
Richard Starkings, David Hine, and Hunt Emerson, plus an introduction by Alan
Moore.
"Brickman Begins!" will only be available in comics speciality shops,
not newsagents or bookshops. Comic stores in the USA and Europe are determining
how many to order now, so reserve your copy as soon as possible. Price will
be $9.99, (approximately £6.50 in the UK). For details of other graphic
novels from Active Images, visit their website at http://www.activeimages.com/
