THE UNMUTUAL PRISONER VEHICLE GUIDE

BLUE STREAK

Vehicle/Series Info: Rick Davy. Image: David Mackenzie.

IN THE PRISONER: At the end of "Fall Out", a rocket (shown during earlier cavern scenes housing Number One) is launched from The Village.

IN REALITY: The rocket, Blue Streak, got its name from from its silver-blue steel cladding, and was first launched from Woomera (although British-built) in 1964. The rocket is, of course, superimposed (and badly - it can be seen "bleeding" into Number Six's cottage) although the exterior of the studio replica, seen in the Cavern scenes, is heavily based on Blue Streak's real-life appearance. Check back here soon for a more detailed article on Blue Streak, written by David Healey.

With thanks to Dave Healey for the info.
