The Artwork of Plinio and Calpurnia Designori

Plinio and Calpurnia Designori have been regular visitors to Portmeirion since falling in love with it on their first visit in 1970. They both paint (oil on canvas) and when producing paintings inspired by a shared experience, naturally work on them together.

"Image two has no proper title but is an idyll inspired by the first television broadcast of The Prisoner and is one of the first we ever did. The first is a study of "The Dolphin" which we produced while experimenting with exaggerated perspective and it benefited from the greater experience of painting which we had acquired by then. The third is inspired by The Prisoner. The punched-card credit system seemed so tacky for a miniature society so I tried to imagine what a proper Village currency might look like."
