WHO IS NIGEL ONE?
The
Prisoner has provided material for many spoofs and advertisements over the
years, but it could be argued that none have been as unusual as the trailer
for Children's BBC which has been running on the corporation's various channels
during the early weeks of January 2005.
The promotional film is centred around a group of numbered youngsters, in a junior spy setting. The lead spy, called "N" (who we later learn is actually called Nigel), is wearing a piped-blazer and stands near a globe chair. He refers to a number of Children's BBC shows, addressing an unseen Agent Number 2, Agent Number 11 (who is dispatched in a Bond movie-like manner) and announces that he would like to make Presenter Fern Cotton his "Number One"! From 18th January, sequels to this trailer starting showing in which Nigel watched various Newsround stories to gain knowledge to impress Miss Cotton.
