THE UNMUTUAL PRISONER LOCATIONS GUIDE

BUCKINGHAM PLACE, LONDON

Photos & Location/Series Info: Rick Davy.

IN THE PRISONER: The location of Number Six's London home in the series. It features at the end of the opening title sequence, as well as several scenes in "Many Happy Returns" and "Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling" when Number Six returns to London, and at the end of "Fall Out". Number Six's house is No.1.

IN REALITY: This street is Buckingham Place, London, SW1 (Number Six's house is No.1, on the corner of Palace Street) near Victoria. The view from the window (of the swaying flats) was actually filmed from the upstairs window, and not downstairs as the scene suggests. The building itself has had various occupants over the years, and currently houses the following offices:

Cleave & Co Ltd, 1 Buckingham PlaceLondon, SW1E 6HR
Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, 1 Buckingham PlaceLondon, SW1E 6HR
Royal Warrant Holders Association, 1 Buckingham PlaceLondon, SW1E 6HR

The rest of the street has also had famous residents. For some years several of the buildings were linked to Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, and Lee Radziwill, younger sister of Jackie Kennedy, also lived in the street at one time.

This location forms part of the twice-yearly Prisoner Location Walkabouts (details on the events page).
