PRISONER GET-TOGETHER

For those in town for the Mind Mash and Location Tour events (see below), Dave Lally has arranged a day of get togethers. Writes Dave: Meet at Tottenham Court Tube Station (Northern Line tkt barriers(*)) at 1300 (for 1315). From there we go: (1) down the road to our London+S/East Priz Gp regular haunt (The Crown, New Oxford St) for late lunch (if they are still serving) --prob upstairs-- and for a beer (Sam Smiths by the way) and 2) then on/from ~ 1430 onto London's famous SF bookshop ("Forbidden Planet") nearby --celebrating 30 years by the way-- (179 Shaftesbury Ave WC2H 8JR) and spend at least 1 hour there. (Bring your wallet!) (BTW hot news !! They are holding there --on Wed 14 Nov 1800-1900-- a Prisoner new comic book signing!) then (3) on/from ~1530/1600 on by Tube to the British Film Institute/National Film Theatre (South Bank SE1, Tube Waterloo) - they do a nice late aft tea/coffee (and they have a great Bookshop).

LESLIE GLEN'S PRISONER MIND MASH

The Hoop and Toy, 34 Thurloe Place, South Kensington, SW7 2HQ.

12.00pm-6.00pm, in private room/bar.

The return of Leslie Glen's popular event will see special guest interviews, discussions about 'The Prisoner', screenings, and the chance to meet with like-minded 'Prisoner' fans. Merchandise at exclusive low prices will be available, including the launch of Leslie's new book, 'The Prisoner Interrogations 2'. Click HERE for reviews of previous events. Guests will include Ian Rakoff (writer of 'Living in Harmony'), and (subject to commitments), 'Prisoner' music editor Eric Mival.

In aid of Ty Gobaith Children's Hospice, entry is £10 on the door, all are welcome.

"Danger Man" London locations walkabout tour

Meeting at Victoria British Rail Station (outside Burger King near to Platforms 1-7) at 10.45am. Have a Travelcard valid for at least Zones 1 and 2, and the tour visits;
(1) Danger Man opening location site ("every government has its secret service branch...."),
(2) Danger Man - home of John Drake.
(3) Several other locations from the 'Danger Man' episodes 'Fair Exchange' and 'Don't Nail Him Yet'.
5 ) Several other buildings with Prisoner, Portmeirion, and Cult TV connections (such as Simon Templar's home from 'Return of the Saint').
Event is free to attend other than your travelcard. After a stop for lunch it's then on to.......

"The Prisoner" London locations walkabout tour

The 2nd of 2018's twice-yearly London locations walking tours. Commences at 2.00pm underneath Marble Arch and continues on foot for approx 3.5 miles taking in over 20 different "Prisoner" locations, culminating in Number Six's London home. Free to attend. Optional visit to nearby Pizza Express then follows at approx 5.30pm. Event goes ahead regardless of weather so come prepared. Any queries, click HERE and send an email. The Vapors, Live at Portmeirion's Hercules Hall

On November 10th 2018, the much-loved rock band The Vapors will return to Portmeirion for a special gig, following on from a very successful similar concert last year.

The band will once again be playing 2 sets, with support from DJ Jacqui Carroll, who will be playing tunes until late, with an aftershow party where the band will be joining everyone for drinks and every ticket holder is invited.

Wednesday November 14th 2018 at 6-7pm
'The Prisoner - The Uncertainty Machine' comic book signing.

Regular TUW readers will be aware that recently, a four-part official 'The Prisoner' comic called 'The Uncertainty Machine' (see reviews HERE) was produced by Titan Comics, based on the original series but featuring all new characters. Following these releases, Titan are now launching a collection of all four parts in one volume.

To celebrate the collection, Forbidden Planet are holding a special signing session at their London superstore, near to Tottenham Court Road, on 14th November 2018, from 6pm until 7pm.

Writer Peter Milligan, editor David Leach, and cover artist for the exclusive FP special edition Rian Hughes will be on hand to personally sign copies of the collection. Click HERE to visit the FP website for more details.

MGM Borehamwood Studio locations tour

As a warm-up for the 'A Celebration of ITC' event (see below) later in the evening, Dave Lally and Kieran McAleer are your guides to the streets of Borehamwood.

Dave Lally's tour, which includes some locations from 'The Prisoner' and other series films, and includes some new visuals celebrating Elstree's rich film and TV heritage, starts at 11.00am at Elstree and Borehamwood Station, and ends at 11.50am in Studio Way.

Then it's over to Kieran as he takes you on a guided tour of the now-demolished MGM studios, where 'The Prisoner' TV series and countless great films were made.

Kieran's tour starts at 12.00pm in the Toby Carvery car park, Studio Way, Borehamwood. Wear comfortable footwear as the tour is approx 3 miles long in total. Reviews of previous similar tours can be found HERE.

'A Celebration of ITC'
The Studio Suite, Elstree Studios, Borehamwood

Saturday November 17th will see the latest exciting event.

The iconic Elstree Studios, where many ITC shows were made, across the road from the former site of MGM where 'The Prisoner' was filmed, will play host to an event organised by The Unmutual Website and Quoit Media Limited.

The event will include several special guests, on-stage Q&A sessions, screenings, attractions, and is £30 per person to attend.

SPECIAL GUESTS: IAN OGILVY, PAUL WESTON, ANNETTE ANDRE, JENNY HANLEY, MADELINE SMITH, SHANE RIMMER, GEORGINA MOON, PRENTIS HANCOCK, JOHN HOUGH, JAMIE ANDERSON, AND MORE!!

The event starts at 6.30pm and profits will be donated to Ty Gobaith Children's Hospice in North Wales.

With tickets in very limited number, it is advisable to purchase your tickets as soon as possible, direct from the Quoit Media website HERE, where updates on the event, including guests, will be made, in addition to TUW.

The Prisoner - French 50th Anniversary Weekend

Saint-Symphorien / Coise, near Lyon (16th-18th November) including talks by renowned French 'Prisoner' authors Jean-Michel Philibert, Patrick Ducher, and Michel Senna, along with participation from other guests, such as McGoohan sculpurist Tiziano.

Raffles/compeitions will also take place at the event, along with interactive discussions, and other events.
